Little Pretty Ones

This morning when I was driving in the parking lot of my apartment complex I saw a mother duck with a dozen or more furry little chicks! When the car passed they scurried under her wing.  It was really adorable. It's funny, So Cal is not what you'd call an oasis of natural life, but I see a lot of animals.  Last night I saw little jack rabbits outside Brendon's apartment.  On Saturday Brendon and I went to Dana point and we saw what we describe as rock squirrels (hey, maybe that's really what they are!) There were tons of thes cute, personable, squirrel looking animals diving in and out of the rocks and chasing each other on the grass.

Those ducks, or at least their pals, often show up at our offices across the street, too. They play in the fountain out front.

One day a couple years back, I was pulling out of the parking lot for work. The traffic was halted in the lot for an unknown reason for an excessive amount of time. I started getting a little road ragey, only to find out we were waiting for a cute duckling family to cross the road. It was so cute...road rage be gone!

So cute! We also have 2 ducks (named Mr & Mrs. Puddleduck) at our Condo! We're just waiting to see the little ducklings! It's so cute as they live at the pool and take midnight swims together! Also, in South Africa those "rock rabbits" are called Dussies!!! Just a fun fact! Steve has had a few fun experiences with them on our trips over there!

I was driving right next to a gorgeous egret on Laguna Canyon Road today. We were really close to each other for about 1/2 mile, till it swooped up & over me. Breathtaking!

When I see animals here in my part of the world, I always have to stop what I'm doing and get really excited. :) It's not everyday you see animals roaming around in the city. I particularly love watching 'em fat little gophers.
