"You'll Be In My Heart"
"You'll be in my heart,
no matter what they say,
you'll be here in my heart, always...
Always, I'll be with you, I'll be there for you always,
always and always.
Just look over your shoulder..."
Phil Collins? The theme song for Disney's Tarzan. I know it's incredibly cliche, but it was just on the radio at work, and I am transported back about six years.....
My sister and I choreographed a dance to the song. It was a lyrical/jazz piece with lots of tumbling and unique lifts. We entered into competitions, even nationals in Daytona. It was symbolic, I was leaving for college, my sister was staying home. We were best friends, we had weathered the same storm that was our family for our entire lives...together. We had held each other up during the normal political unfairness at our dance studio. My sister had jealousy invoking talent (and a memory that noone could question), I was the underdog, told I wasn't good enough, too big, too old...but we fiercly supported each other.
We were a team.
I miss her and that song makes me nostalgic. I wish our paths crossed more often but even though they don't we're tight as thieves. We can go for six months without talking and still know each others heartbeat pattern. We get sick around the same time. Very different in some ways and oh so similar in others. I miss her.
