Something Old, Something New...

My good, dear, sweet friend Delores (who went to K-stan for a mission) is ENGAGED!! She called me the day she became engaged to her long-time crush Jarrett. They have been officially engaged for three weeks now, and I am the maid of honor! This is the first wedding I have ever been in besides my brothers weddings and cousins as a child. I'm stoked!!

I am heading out to Oklahoma this Friday for a few days to go dress shopping with Delores and to help find a venue, tack down dates for showers, parties...etc. I can't wait! I've been researching magazines, web-sites and anything I can get my hands on. I want to be the best maid of honor :) Having been one of those girls who never really planned her fantasy wedding, I am quite lucky that Melanie is my best friend and roommate...she had pondered being a wedding planner for a while and actually planned a beautiful wedding with Dana for a friend. So Mel has offered up her plethora of bride magazines for research and even her well of knowledge. Melanie is a planning diva and very good at thinking through the practical steps that are neccessary. This compliments my broad-view planning style. Having studied event planning in college, I really enjoy this type of thing...however, I am best at brainstorming, coordinating, and taking direction from others...call me a worker bee.

So that is that. I will post updates as thier wedding is already swiftly approaching. They are going to set a date when they get a church but it will be in the first two weeks of March!! Whoa nelly!! That's a lot to do in so little time! But, I wish all could witness thier relationship. It is a true picture of love and committment. Jarrett and Delores are two of the most wonderful people I have ever met and so both together...forever? Solid. It's great.
