No Day But Today...Part 2
So I had the RENT audition this morning at Alley Kat Studio in LA. I prepared, i planned, I practiced...I primped. I am Mimi, I wore my fishnets and boots, ilegally short skirt...et al. An hour early for the audition, they called me in first at 10:45. It was cool b/c the cattle call audition was yesterday. Today was simply the people they asked to come and see personally :) Well I walked in, half naked, and the casting lady says:
Lady "what did you prepare?"
Me "Oh, all three"
L "All three what?"
M "I was emailed Mimi's music so I have Out Tonight, Goodbye Love and Without You"
L "Well you're right for Maureen not Mimi"
M "Oh, well fortunately I know her songs too"
L "Great, sing 'Take Me As I Am'"
M "Okay....."
I proceed to rock out on this belting song and it sounds better than the songs I actually prepared.
After the first chorus
L "Thanks. I have your headshot, thanks for coming out today. You can send the next person in."
M "okay, thank you"
and that's all folks. Judge for yourself. I'll say this, I'm not dissaapointed in myself. But I'm not holding my breath for a phone call either. It is Broadway after all, I'm privileged they know my name ;)

Congratulations my friend! Well done. I'm very proud of you!
I just saw Rent for the first time in the theatre so I know what you're talking about. Sorry, I'm from Canada. We say 'aboot' up here. My bad, eh.
Oh, auditions. They're something else. Best of luck. I wonder how close the cast of Rent is to actual cold, starving artists (in New York).
if they cast me, I'd be a real cold, starving artist ;)
