(St.) Regis and Kelly!
Yesterday I had a performance at the St. Regis in Dana Point. I had little prep time as I learned the numbers this past Wednesday, put together costumes and shoes and spent Saturday covered in feathers and hot glue!
We were dancing for an NMDA benefit called City of Hope or something like that (NMDA =National Muscular Distrophy Assoc. of Jerry Lewis fame...I think), $350 a plate. Crazy. I have no idea why they contracted a polynesian dance company to do brazilian. I will never know.
Over all it was pretty fun. The hotel is amazing! but ugh, I have never seen so many pretentious women in my life. I don't think anything in life entitles one to sneer at other people or ignore people who are talking to you. Yeah. I know, I'm the help, a dancer. But don't stare down your nose at me because I'm carrying my own bag, please. I'm not making a comment about classes or wealth or anything. Just a select few of the people (well, quite a few actually) I encountered yesterday rubbed me the wrong way with thier attitudes.
I was kind of irritated when I left last night but....Brendon picked me up from the hotel for a date by the beach. We ate at "The Wind and Sea". I felt my stress melting away as I sipped some chardonnay and sat next to Brendon in a booth looking out over the water. I don't have to take everything so seriously. I'm learning...

Forget these snotty women. All they're probably good for is serving as arm candies to some old rich men. Deep down they're probably envious of you because you're doing something you love with your life. And you look great and beautiful doing it, which something they wouldn't be even after lots of botox, cosmetic surgery and thousands of dollars worth of private dance lessons.
Honey, I dealt with those pretentious women on a daily basis in Newport Beach. You need $3000 worth of flowers for your boat? Why?
I second all of these sentiments! I have found that most of the people that carry on like they're so very busy and important are actually quite insecure and petty. It's sad that they have to put themselves above poeople in order to feel better about themselves.
