Weekend Update

Melanie came down from Hume to visit...woo hoo! But alas, after all my galavanting, my camera is broken so there are no pictures of this glorious weekend. But we've hit up Macaroni Grill...twice (it's our favorite place. I hadn't been there for over two months and neither had Melanie, so we had to go see our peeps there). Saturday night we got to Pictionary with friends and Sunday we hit snooze so many times we missed morning and afternoon church. We managed lunch with Amy and Laci and went to evening Church. Now I am in my new favorite Manga/Internet Cafe where I can get all my Japanese favorites...milk tea, Pocky and free wifi.

I am going on my first ever famiy cruise Oct 28th. My sister will be dancing on the cruise ship. I will be rooming with my cousin Ryan and his friend Dan. That's right me and the twenty something males. I'll be bringing air freshner, fabreze and ....mace. Guys play tricks on cousins in thier sleep, I know how it is. I'm stoked though.

I finally feel like myself again, or at least, I feel like a fully functioning Crista and I'm looking forward to several things in my life. That is always good.

My sister's ship docked in Long Beach for a few hours on Thursday! She had bright purple contacts, very striking! It was really nice to see her.

I get stopped and told I look like a handful of people, Rachel Wiesz regularly. Others include Lisa Loeb (only when I'm wearing my glasses though), and Rachel Leigh Cook. But today a few girls pointed out that they thought I look like...Amy Lee of Evanesence fame. It's the black hair I think. So in honor of that I looked up Amy Lee on Wikipedia and found a few interesting quotes:

"As a woman I feel offended because these artists portray women as people that can only do well in the world by selling their bodies. I'm determined to help prove that to be false"

"When you go through tragedy, you can either let that destroy you and you become bitter and never let it go, or you can let it make you stronger and let it make you grow. And that's what I did. My lyrics are coming from a place that I want people to relate to and feel that they're not alone"

"If all we ever sang about was how happy we are, we would be lying to ourselves. People try to escape their problems by getting drunk, partying and dancing them away. What really heals me is to sit down and think, face the facts, then you can get over it and be happy"
