Happy Birthday to the S.S.!

Today is my Dad's Birthday! He called me this morning about car stuff and I forgot and had to call him back to sing him Happy B'day. He is officially a senior citizen today (or senior sitizen as I like to spell it) and he seems excited about that fact. Let me give you a few random facts about my Dad in honor of his Birthday (it's purely for your enjoyment as my Dad doesn't read my blog-even after I practically begged him ;):

1. My dad is 100% Italian
2. One of his parents is northern Italian the other is Southern.
3. Italians, even when they don't know anything about their heritage are pretty egocenntric...we LOVE being italian even if the only italian we know is "fetuccini" and "mange, bella, mange" (that's eat, beauty, eat...eating is very important to italians).
4. Dad is a mechanical engineer...one of the smartest men I know.
5. just a month or two ago he became a financial something or other changing for the first time, his job...although it's with the same company.
6. Proctor and Gamble
7. He holds a patent on the machine that makes multi-color papertowels. He invented it and worked 6 years to construct and bring it to life.
8. His name is on the patent in the Library of Congress.
9. Dad was in the air force during the Vietnam War
10. He was to be sent to Da'nang but the week before a jet engine fell on his knee taking him out of combat and out of his football career.
11. All-together my Dad has 6 biological kids and 2 step-kids. That's a lot of kids.
12. It's funny, my all Italian Dad's name is Emmett Chauncy Leopardi...two Irish names!
13. Dad is a great cook! He likes to make stuff up and it's always delicious!
14. When Dad married Lori (his wife now) they ran off to vegas and then had a formal ceremony later. Crazy Leopardi's!
15. When I was about 6, my Dad was giving us a Bible lesson at the table as he was apt to do sometimes and I got it in my head that he WAS Jesus, he just wasn't going to tell us. I had this sparkle in my eye like I knew something, I had figured him out! My Dad was Jesus, come down in the form of man to take care of business in my family (yes a little egocenntric I was too!) Finally, I told him, I knew the secret... he was the Christ, the sinless one... he couldn't fool me! I knew Deity when I saw it! I gave him a great laugh, he was pretty suprised. He explained that no, he wasn't Jesus, but we all had Jesus in us...ect.
16. My Dad's love for music was instilled in all of us. Actually my Mom loves music too. But she's tone deaf and would tell you herself. My Dad, on the other hand, had a recording studio built in our basement when I was in highschool and started recording his own and other artists music.
17. My Dad included us, his kids, in everything he did. We helped him build everything(cabinets, tables...), painted, recorded, went with him to work...et. al.
18. My Dad is going to see my little brother graduate from BootCamp for his birthday today.

Happy Birthday Dad! Hope it's a good one.
