Missy

So, every once in a while I get a bee in my bonnet to reccommend music or a musician. These are rare occasions as I have not studied music and don't like to make an ass out of myself in such an obvious way...if I can help it, you know. But I am a music fiend! I walk to the beat of this or that, a soundtrack is always in my head...and pumping into my ears if I can help it. I like what I like.

Right now, I like Missy Higgins. My lovely sister played her first for me and immediately snagged her album "The Sound of White". I didn't think I'd fall for her as she seemed, at first blush, a little cliche...raw girl vocals about abuse, toss in classic and a little jazzy piano (here I go making an ass out of myself)... There was one song that caught me enough to listen to the whole thing. "Special Two" I listened to it over and over and over. Then I popped the album into my car. Every day I have picked one song and I end up playing it a million times until I can sing it with Missy. Oh my, I think I love...the WHOLE ALBUM.

My top picks:

Special Two
Scar (which makes me think of Alice in Wonderland)
All For Believing
This is How it Goes (how many times have I lived this song..a million)
Unbroken

um, that's five off an album of ten. and I like most of the others nearly as much. Who knew! I reccommend you give Missy Higgins a listen...but don't quote me on the classic, jazzy piano bit. I don't know music stuff people...just what I like.

"Unbroken" Lyrics

Red hand print on the white of your cheek
Pack your bags quiet, while the lion sleeps
Watch your mother put her name to the line
Next to the place where your father signed

And inevitably, what we used to be will
Succumb to the pull of gravity
And you will never, no you will never see with virgin eyes again

Cos this is the day that everything changes
And your world stops turning, running straight,
Into the break lights, you've come to nothing
This is the day that everything changes and your worlds collide
You know in time you'll wake to find you're a little unbroken

Hold the answer to the light to see your future
Two line, blue line tragedy
He brings the medal to the fire for the first time, tells you it's the last time and it will be

Cos inevitably, what we used to be will
Tainted by the hands of curiosity
And you will never, no you will never see with virgin eyes again

Cos this is the day that everything changes
And the world stops turning, running straight,
Into the break lights, you've come to nothing
This is the day that everything changes and your worlds collide
You know in time you'll wake to find you're a little unbroken

So how can I explain the isolated rain that follows you?
But wouldn't you agree running always slows you down
So welcome the pain
And stop yourself from delaying it
Cos the real life will never go away

Cos this is the day that everything changes
And the world stops turning, running straight,
Into the break lights, you've come to nothing
This is the day that everything changes and your worlds collide
You know in time you'll wake to find you're a little unbroken

Oh, you're a little unbroken
Oh, a little unbroken, yeah,
You're, oh, a little unbroke
