Literary Adventures

I fell in love with two authors this summer. The first is Barbara Kingsolver. I read "Prodigal Summer" on a whim after picking up the book in Barnes and Noble simply because the cover made me happy. I loved it, adored it. I recommend it, and I never do this but, specifically to women. It was a beautiful depiction of three generations of women and thier three different forms of love. So I looked her up after I finished and found that she was the highly lauded author of "The Poisonwood Bible". So my aunt lent me that book and I devoured it. I will admit that the first two chapters were the hardest to get through and I nearly put it down for good, but then I couldn't put it down. I felt my very person described in it's pages. I loved the family and I saw my identity in the character of Leah Price. Next, I finally finished "Night Watch" the Russian vampire book. Beautifully translated to English, nearly flawless, the book reveals and anylizes the balance of good and evil and thier scary similarities. Fortunately for me there are two books that come after "Night Watch"....I am now reading "Day Watch" and oh yes, I plan to continue on to "Twilight Watch".
