Runology
I ran six miles! My first six miles...woo hoo!
It helps that I moved into the backyard of my running partner, and she is good my friends. I ran six miles next her while she ran twelve. That was at the gym and now I will begin to run on pavement. Today we ran to the beach (not sure how far)! I'm excited. The half-marathon is at the end of August so we're going to step it up a bit. Maia and I will be doing 2-3 mile stints at the beach a few times a week with one long run day. The short runs will be a mix of working on speed and hills and the long runs will be for me to work on my mileage (she's already there).
It's so cool for me because this is all new to my body. I have done many sports and noone would call me sedentary. But my brand of athletic has always been dance, gymnastics, diving, soccer.... and endurance is what I struggle with. I have never been a runner. I have rollerblade, I have swum, I have done short defensive running for soccer and tennis. But distance, no bueno. So every mile I add is like pulling teeth but then, I'm on top of the world!
