Here we go...
Do you believe in signs? Do you believe coincidences exist? Or is everything pre-planned? What could you do if everything you wanted to stated as if it was already done?
Questions brought to mind for Melanie and I by a seemingly chance meeting with one of Maia's good friends John. Melanie was spending the night with me in the bungalow the night he arrived from Ohio to stay with Maia and we all ended up chatting. The first order of business... invoking Gods promise to give what we ask for by using "I Am" statements. "thank you for the item I AM going to find in this store" (an actual example of John's, I am fit (proving my dad's theory that if I keep saying "I am fat" I will become fat), I am a dancer, I am safe, I am productive. You get to do whatever you want to do if you proclaim that you are whatever you want to be. He brought it a step further (intresting for those of us pondering Jesus's role in religion and the world) by saying what if Jesus's statements predeath of "I AM the way the truth and the life" where invoking God's name of "I AM" that he told Moses at the burning bush. Therefore what JC was saying was essentially that God was the way the truth and the life. John asked what if what God was saying was that whatever you proclaim is yours you are proclaiming in God's name because we are one with God. His name is I AM so whenever we say "I am afraid" you are saying "I AM afraid" and so you are because you and God are one. Jesus is God's son because he knew it to be true... of him AND anyone. Therefore I am (crista leopardi) both God and The Way, The Truth And The Life... mind blowing? Something to think about and mull over and take apart? I should say so. Inquiring minds need to know :) Melanie and I have been experimenting with I AM statements. I am not saying "I have insomnia, I am having trouble sleeping" I am saying... "I am safe, I am happy, I am fit...." and guess what, I slept like a rock last night. You all no my faith is...well, I believe in a god. and I am undetermined beyond that, but I love hearing people talk about thier beliefs and their experiences. and John spoke of Jesus but also Buddha and the Koran and Mohammad and a handful of other religions (Buddha who said "my religion is kindness" which I love). He spoke of the Ashram he stayed at and of Hindu beliefs and sayings. So.... thoughts?
