Top Ten

Top Ten Things I like about SINGAPORE!

1. The rain and thunderstorms! it's beautiful
2. Public transportation - the MRT is so easy and logical
3. My job here is amazing, I love that I'm getting paid to train on trampoline, tumble, explore, workout... et all
4. My roommate. Jefferson has been a complete surprise. He's like the brother I never had (even though I have 4 brothers). He lets me cry on his shoulder, picked out rugs for our living room, carries the groceries for me (but needs me to show him how to cook eggs). He can't wait for us to celebrate Christmas and is going to let me decorate our apartment and watch Rudolph the Rednosed Reindeer... he's great
5. Yong Tau Fu in the food court - its like pick your own items and put them in a bowl and they make a soup out of it for you instantly. It's $4 dollars (SingDollar) which is less then three USD and it's a HEAPING bowl of stuff! I get it with broccoli, spinach, tofu, tomatoes, sprouts, leeks... all chopped after you pick them out and then immersed in boiling water and poured over noodles. Delicious
6. Smogless skies... delightful!
7. WIld monkeys we can see on our way to our rehearsal space
8. food without an abundance of hormones and CRAP
9. Cultures smacking up against each other... Indian, Malay, Chinese, Sing Malay, Indonesian, Phillipine
10. Green tea pumpkin seeds - no joke, they're delicious! The pumpkin seeds are seasoned simply with green tea, no artificial flavor, or salt or oil, just green tea. MMMMMMM oh and rice crackers. I freaking love rice crackers

Five things I dislike about Singapore

1. The rain (and yes I love it too) gosh darn it if I'm not soaked down to my dainties nearly every damn day. Even when I'm carrying an umbrella. It's a love/hate relationship we have going on
2. People don't look at you and cut you off walking, run into you, push you out of the way, or stand directly in front of you. It's just common. There's no eye contact so people just knock against each other or push each other out of the way. they back up into you. I'm trying to get used to it, but I get road rage...and I'm not on the road. Even in the gymnastics gym, kids will walk into someones tumble track without even looking. It's a safety hazard, but it's the norm here. Makes me flustered.
3. There's no soymilk outside of Starbucks. Just soya bean drink. Which by the way is the consistency of heavy cream.... found that out the hard way!
4. the police carry GIGANTIC automatic weapons in the train station. it freaks me out. Seriously the guns are huge. and since there are so many rules (can't even drink water in the train station) you just get shaky seeing them on the platforms. You don't want to answer your cell phone
5. Media Censorship... can't get my Hulu.com here. damn

If it helps I think the hulu issue is on the US side, they don't permit IP addresses outside the country access... typically because other country's networks are showing a program a couple seasons behind it's US airdate and they wouldn't be able to sell the international networks the show if people had easy access to newer material.
