Book Quotes

I read a lot now which is, in my life, a luxury. I have many luxuries afforded to me by working at Pirates. I have a contract for a year that pays me enough to live off of comfortably by PERFORMING. and I have time to sleep in, work out and read. When I was in college my roommate and I would talk about the books we would read when we had time to. We would browse Barnes and Noble and drool knowing that we had to bide our time.

Now, working, single, sometimes lonely I devour books. and I always read with my journal by my side (thats how I watch TV too funny enough) I like to write down quotes or thoughts provoked by what I'm taking in. So I thought I'd share a bit of what I've found interesting enough to record over the past few months...

The Bride Stripped Bare

"you never loved calmly before, in your twenties. That was the time of greedy love, full of exhileration and terror and when you said 'I love you' you always felt stripped; there was no sense ever of love as a rescue"

"...people who shine more lavishly than everyone else seem to be penalized by discontent as if they're being punished for craving a brighter life"

Eleven Minutes

"I love this man sitting before me now because I do not possess him and he does not possess me. We are free in our mututal surrender; I need to repeat this dozens, hundreds, millions of times until I finally beleive my own words"

"If he was the man she wanted him to be he would not be intimidated by her silence"

Why Men Love Bitches

"Most women are starving to recieve something from a man that they need to give themselves"

"The token power position is for public display. But the true power position is for private viewing only. And this is the only one that matters"

Eat Pray Love

"to know God you need only to renounce one thing, your sense of division from God. Otherwise just stay as you were made, with in your natural character"

"(according to the Upanishads) people follow different paths straight or crooked according to their temperament, depending on which they consider best...and all reach You, just as rivers enter the ocean"

Grey's Anatomy

"You can remember that no man, not Mark, not Derek, defines who you are"

"The trick with any wound is to find the source and then fight like hell to heal that sucker"
"Mistakes are painful but they're the only way to find out who you are"
"I'm not mad, or depressed, I'm just....different"
"The world of pretend is a cage not a cacoon-we can only lie to ourselves for so long"

and my favorite:

"It's not us, it's them. Them and thier stupid boy penises"
